Artwork Setup Guidelines

Canvas Size

When setting up your design canvas, maintain the same proportions as your final printed product.
For example, if you're ordering a banner with a 3:1 ratio, your artwork should reflect this exactly.

We recommend working at a reduced scale (e.g., 50% or 25%) to minimise file sizes, especially for large graphics.
If your artwork exceeds 5 metres in either direction, please scale it down accordingly.

Note: Adobe software and PDFs are limited to 5080mm in width or height.
Software like CorelDRAW may allow larger canvases, but these will cause issues in our workflow — do not exceed this limit.

Example Canvas Sizes for a 5m × 1m Banner:

Scale Canvas Size
100% (Full Scale) 5000mm × 1000mm
50% (Half Scale) 2500mm × 500mm
25% (Quarter Scale) 1250mm × 250mm
10% Scale 500mm × 100mm

Scale Multipliers:

Scale Multiply by:
50% (Half Scale) 0.5
25% (Quarter Scale) 0.25
10% Scale 0.1

Example:
For 25% scale artwork of a 5000mm design:
5000 × 0.25 = 1250mm

Crop Marks

  • Not required if your canvas matches the print size exactly.

  • Recommended if your design is placed within a larger artboard and we need reference marks.

⚠ Do not place crop marks inside the bleed area, especially for fabric and double-sided prints.
Marks within the bleed may appear on the final product due to movement during finishing.

Colour Mode

  • Use CMYK colour mode only.

  • Files submitted in RGB will be auto-converted, which may cause colour shifts or poor print results.

Bleed Requirements

Ensure bleed is added to avoid white edges after trimming:

Material Type Minimum Bleed (Full Scale)
Standard Banners & Prints 5mm
740gsm Double-Sided PVC Banners 10mm
Bespoke Flags, Display/Backlit Polyester, Stretch Fabric 30mm

Avoid the following inside bleed areas:

  • Crop marks

  • Colour bars

  • Registration marks

  • PDF export marks

Disable these default marks when exporting to PDF.

Keylines & Trim Lines

  • Avoid including keylines or trim lines unless ordering a shape-cut item.

  • We cannot guarantee keylines won’t shift during finishing and appear on your product.

Roller Banner Specifics

Using Templates

We recommend downloading our Roller Banner templates, which:

  • Are set up to correct proportions

  • Include layout and bleed guides

  • Ensure accurate fitting in the unit

Manual Setup

If building your own:

  • Match the exact width and height for your model

  • Add an extra 150mm at the bottom for the mechanism

    • This area is hidden and should contain background only

    • Do not place text, logos, or important content here

Example: For a 2000mm visible height, your canvas height should be 2150mm.
