What are Silicone Edge Graphics?

SEG is short for Silicone Edge Graphics, these are printed fabric graphics with a thin 14mm silicone beading sewn around the edges that fits easily into a tension fabric frame. The silicone beading fits into a recessed groove around the perimeter of the tension frame to tension up the fabric which makes it completely smooth. The result is a slimline frameless appearance that enhances the look and feel of branding.

Overlocked Edges

Our new automatic overlocking system sews all silicone edges, ensuring the fabric is stitched precisely to the edge of the silicone. This prevents lifting, a common cause of difficult-to-insert graphics and fitting issues.

How to order the correct size

We have our own formula to produce SEG graphics for tension fabric frames. We always need the physical frame size when you are ordering your fabric prints and we will do the rest.

  • Do not try to measure the graphics – this can cause sizing issues due to stretch and tension

  • ALWAYS provide us with the frame size

  • Measure the frame edge to edge

Seamless, Frameless Finish

Create a sleek frameless look to your artwork with our silicone edge graphics.  Printed onto a tension fabric, our silicone edge graphics seamlessly fit inside a thin frame to produce a top quality ‘frameless’ finish. All our silicone edge graphics have an industry standard silicone strip stitched into the perimeter of the fabric which is easily inserted into the extrusion of the frame. The result is an exceptionally smooth finish and a luxurious, ‘high-end’ look to your promotional graphics. Perfect for large format graphics where you want to make a big impact, you can also choose to back light your signage or leave it unlit. We use a denser fabric for our backlit silicone edge graphics to ensure light is defused and brings your artwork to vivid full-colour life. All our silicone edge graphics are printed using our digital fabric printer for the very best colour definition and image reproduction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Silicone Edge Graphics (SEG)?
Silicone Edge Graphics, commonly known as SEG, are high-resolution tension fabric prints finished with a thin silicone strip (the "welt") sewn directly to the edges. This strip tucks into a recessed groove on a dedicated aluminum frame, creating a drum-tight, borderless, and professional finish.
How do I install or change an SEG fabric print?
One of the main benefits of SEG is the ease of installation: Insert the corners first: Push the silicone welt into the four corners of the frame. The insert the middles: Press the remaining silicone edge into the channel along each side. No tools required: Unlike traditional signage, you can swap graphics in minutes without professional help or specialized equipment.
Are Silicone Edge Graphics fire-rated for indoor use?
Absolutely. At Colour Graphics, we use fire-retardant (B1 certified) fabrics. This makes our SEG displays safe and legal for use in high-traffic commercial environments, such as exhibition halls, retail stores, and airports.
What is the difference between Backlit and Frontlit SEG?
Backlit SEG: Printed on specialised soft backlit fabrics designed to diffuse light evenly. These are used with LED lightboxes to make the colors pop. Frontlit SEG: A standard opaque fabric, sometimes blockout, used for non-illuminated frames or wall-mounted displays. It offers a premium, glare-free matte finish.
Do I need to buy a new frame every time I want a new design?
No! The beauty of the SEG system is its reusability. Once you have the aluminum frame installed, you only need to order "replacement SEG skins." This makes it an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution for seasonal retail updates or rotating marketing campaigns.
How should I store my SEG fabric prints?
To avoid heavy creasing, it is best to fold the graphics with the print side facing inward. Store them in a cool, dry place. If creases do appear after storage, they will typically pull tight and disappear once the graphic is tensioned back into the frame.
